Google for Startups Accelerator: Climate Change Supports MEA Startups Combatting Climate Change

As the impact of climate change increasingly threatens the Middle East and Africa, innovative startups are stepping up to tackle the pressing challenges faced by the region. Water scarcity, rising temperatures and sea levels, and the encroachment of desertification are posing significant socio-economic risks, prompting the need for transformative solutions. Enter the Google for Startups Accelerator: Climate Change program, offering a unique opportunity for MEA-based startups to lead the battle against climate change, in conjunction with the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 28) to be held in Dubai.

Transforming the Global Economy

The urgent need for change cannot be overstated. The global economy must shift to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and embrace new, climate-resilient technologies. Governments and businesses play a crucial role in fostering solutions capable of safeguarding the planet’s viability. This is where the Google for Startups Accelerator: Climate Change program comes in, specifically tailored to the Middle East and African startups’ needs to address the region’s unique environmental challenges.

This 10-week, equity-free hybrid accelerator aims to support Seed to Series A startups in the Middle East and Africa, assisting them in developing and implementing viable solutions for battling climate change. The program comprises a mix of in-person and virtual activities, one-on-one mentoring, and group learning sessions. Moreover, startups benefit from tailored workshops in product design, business growth and leadership development, as well as dedicated Google Cloud technical expertise and credits to facilitate their progress.

Eligibility and Application

The application window for the Google for Startups Accelerator: Climate Change program is open until July 7th, 2023. The program encourages startups that leverage cloud and AI/ML technologies or have an interest in using them in the future to participate. Startups operating in environmentally-focused sectors, including energy, agriculture, climate adaptation and more, are invited to apply.

Seizing the Opportunity

To better understand the potential benefits that the accelerator provides, interested startups can view demo days from previous climate change cohorts in Europe and North America. These demonstrations provide insight into the program’s impact, helping entrepreneurs to make a well-informed decision when considering whether to apply.

The Middle East and Africa are at a critical juncture in their quest to counter climate change. With the region’s future at risk, it is crucial for entrepreneurs, startups, and investors focused on climate change, clean energy, and environmental sectors to seize this opportunity and apply for the Google for Startups Accelerator: Climate Change program. By doing so, they can gain valuable support and resources to make a significant difference in combating climate change in their regions, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable future for all.

Up until working with Casey, we had only had poor to mediocre experiences outsourcing work to agencies. Casey & the team at CJ&CO are the exception to the rule.

Communication was beyond great, his understanding of our vision was phenomenal, and instead of needing babysitting like the other agencies we worked with, he was not only completely dependable but also gave us sound suggestions on how to get better results, at the risk of us not needing him for the initial job we requested (absolute gem).

This has truly been the first time we worked with someone outside of our business that quickly grasped our vision, and that I could completely forget about and would still deliver above expectations.

I honestly can't wait to work in many more projects together!
