Primer, GitHub’s open source design system, is a cornerstone in creating inclusive, responsive, and efficient user interface (UI) experiences for developers. The goal of Primer is to enable all UI components to be built with ease while maintaining a cohesive brand identity. Improving color contrast in default light and dark modes presents a complex challenge, but it is essential to make GitHub accessible for all users. The company has made significant achievements in passing color contrast requirements and resolving hundreds of accessibility issues.
