In the modern era of technology, databases play a pivotal role in numerous software applications, ranging from web-based programs, enterprise-level ventures, real-time systems, to AI, Machine Learning, Blockchain, Data Science, HPC, & IoT deployments. This might seem counterintuitive at first, but a deep dive into Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, and IBM DB2 unravels the compelling narrative behind it.
Starting with the Oracle database, an extremely popular choice for large-scale applications with stringent data integrity requirements. Oracle’s roots trace back to the 1970s, making it one of the oldest database management systems. It employs PL/SQL as its built-in assembly language. Boasting a range of features from data replication, business intelligence to flash recovery, the latest 19c Oracle database has made it indispensable in different enterprise-level projects.
