When you think of the word “beast,” a YouTube sensation probably isn’t the first image that springs to mind. Yet, here we are, talking about Mr Beast, a man who’s redefining the art of philanthropy in the digital age.
As of May 2023, the answer is a staggering $100 million1. But is that all? Or is there more to this tale of wealth and benevolence? Buckle up as we plunge into the opulent world of Mr Beast, leaving no stone unturned.
“How did Mr Beast make his money?” – this rhetorical question often comes up whenever we talk about this YouTube phenomenon. The answer isn’t as straightforward as one might think. It’s a blend of strategic planning, relentless hard work, an innovative business model, and a dash of luck.

But how much does Mr Beast actually make from YouTube? Yes, you read it right, $54 million from making videos. If that’s not striking gold, I don’t know what is! In 2021, he made a jaw-dropping $54 million from his various YouTube channels4. Just let that sink in for a moment.
Another crucial aspect of Mr Beast’s wealth comes from high-profile sponsorships. Brands like Quidd, CSGO Lotto, Honey, TikTok, and others have been happy to pour hefty sums into Donaldson’s ventures. It’s like a modern-day King Midas story, everything Mr Beast touches turns to gold, or should we say green?
Now, what does Mr Beast do with all this wealth? He could’ve easily decided to swim in his riches, à la Scrooge McDuck. But Mr Beast, aka Jimmy Donaldson, has a different approach. He believes in giving back to making the world a better place.
His charity effort, TeamSeas, is a testament to this. In collaboration with fellow YouTuber Mark Rober, he raised $30 million for an ocean cleanup initiative. That’s right, $30 million to remove 30 million pounds of trash from our seas. It doesn’t stop there. In a November 2021 food drive, MrBeast donated 1 million meals to needy families, spending $500,000, surpassing the time he gave away $456,000 in his Squid Game video1.
